POWER THROUGH PURITY SEMINAR

Purity of heart and life almost seem impossible in our day and time. As believers in Christ, not only have our minds been polluted with the world’s values and fleshly pursuits, but for many of us, our very actions have also contributed to the pollution of our hearts and minds, not to mention the consequences that accompany such actions. Is it possible, therefore, and even realistic to expect that we can maintain and walk in purity of thought as well as action? The answer is yes, but there is indeed a great spiritual, mental, emotional and even physical battle associated with such a walk. The liberating truth, however, is that this is not a battle we can wage and win in our own strength and will. This battle MUST be waged in utter dependence and reliance on Christ within us. Christ will in turn enable us to trust and obey Him in faith and see through the lies of the enemy. Satan promulgates those lies through a variety of means.

Such things as the "fear of missing out" on certain basic pleasures and enjoyments of life, as well as the anger aroused over perceived injustice and unfairness are effective tools he uses to draw us into his trap. He then deceives us into thinking that if we do not pursue a certain "fleshly course," our needs and self-identity as a person will not be met or achieved. In truth, nothing could be farther from the truth, but because of our mental and emotional appetites, vulnerabilities and insecurities, the "fear" that our perceived needs and wants will not be met is easily exploited by Satan. He, therefore, manipulates us through the "fear" that we are somehow missing out on the justice due us, or on life’s best opportunities for us, and thus, he deceives us into pursuing those things that promise and provide immediate gratification. However, in the long run, those "fleshly" pursuits ALWAYS result in greater emotional pain, destabilization, fear and loss of identity, versus God’s very best for us through Christ, which is the ABSOLUTE ANTITHESIS of the results of "fleshly" pursuits.

The GOOD NEWS of the Gospel is a twofold message. First, Christ came to redeem us from the eternal penalty of sin in hell through His personal sacrifice being applied to our hearts through the rebirth of the Spirit. But secondly, the GOOD NEWS also includes the fact that He restores us, His children, who as believers may have fallen prey to Satan’s lies through pursuing the "lust of the flesh" as a means of finding peace, joy and fulfillment in this life. This restoration of Christ will take us from a life of deception, defeat and despair, to a life of true liberty, freedom and victory in Christ, which is far above ANYTHING this world may offer as a temporary solace and substitute!
